I Need A Miracle
Can any world survive a benevolent god?

In this original audio drama podcast, every episode is a prayer, some prayers are granted, and a prayer granted can upend the world.
Each episode, each prayer, is a single desperate moment of a life in another world. A world shaped by the divine. The voices we hear know an omnipotent being is listening. They know not all pleas are granted – but some are. And they believe in the benevolence of their god.
Desperation and calculation, need and desire render each new character in vivid shades. And episode by episode, a miraculous yet tumultuous world is assembled in glimpses.
Each episode of I Need A Miracle is a monologue lasting 5–20 minutes. A new character every episode. Never the same character twice. Always addressing a plea to a listening deity – which never makes a sound.
Intimate & immersive
You, the listener, stand in for a silently listening god. Hear brazen demands for divine intervention and vulnerable, secret pleas for deliverance. Whose requests would you grant and why? Does anyone deserve a miracle?
Intricate & intriguing
Which pleas are granted? How does the listening being decide? What are the Upheavals that regularly wrack this world? What threatens to rise from the Depths? And can any being with ultimate power truly be benevolent?
Rich & relatable
I Need A Miracle dives deep into the many kinds of wanting, and the many ways of asking for help. How would you make your case to an omnipotent being who grants some miracles but not others, based on ineffable criteria? The petitioners’ struggles will ring true to many listeners from our own world of hoarded, jealously guarded resources.
“As a person allergic to religion, I had my doubts. I was wrong. It’s fab. Great writing and acting, made even better by stellar production.”
For fans of
Miracle workers wanted to support season 2
There’s so much more to explore in this strange, kind, stressful, unpredictable world. I want Season 2 (and beyond) of I Need A Miracle to be bigger. More episodes. More voices. More ideas.
For that to happen, I need two things:
Backers
I funded season 1 of I Need A Miracle fully out of my own pocket, because I wanted it to exist, and I wanted everyone involved to get paid properly. I can’t afford to do that a second time (would you believe season 1 isn’t yet turning a profit…?). So to make season 2, I’ll need to fundraise: by applying for grants, asking companies to invest, and/or crowdfunding from the community.
You can pave the way to a fully funded season 2 by:
Telling people about season 1. The more people download the show, the bigger and better the numbers I can put in grant applications and investment pitches, and the more confident I can be that a crowdfunding round would raise enough money. Just point your friends and frenemies to this page (especially if they’re rich and like to fund weird audio drama!).
Subscribing to the Foggy Outline newsletter, Professional Relations. Again, lots of newsletter subscribers look good in applications and pitches, and make it more likely crowdfunding could work.
Buying me a coffee on Ko-fi, either once, or once a month. Donating gets you access to unabridged Professional Relations interviews, my writer’s commentaries on Gaze and Camera Obscura, and draft scripts for other audio drama series like Dead Weight.
Writers
I wrote every episode of I Need A Miracle season 1. For season 2, I want to invite other writers to explore this world with me. If you’d enjoy writing a 5-20 minute monologue in the form of a prayer to a benevolent god, fill in this form. I’d love to work with you.
